Kazi, Dragonu’, Bean – “Imperiul lianelor” (Silent Strike RMX)

Ca-n “Being John Malcovich”.

Afterwork: Let’s make a good trabuc!

Afterwork

Cafepedia Romana din strada Pictor Verona nr 2 anunta o noua seara speciala in cadrul programului Afterwork.
Despre arta rularii trabucurilor

Nascut in URSS

Galeria MORA
si
Valeriu Schiau
va invita
Joi, 21 ianuarie, ora 19.00
la vernisajul expozitiei
NASCUT IN URSS
mixt media
21 ianuarie-12 februarie 2010

Sundance-Documentary Film Support Program

Sundance Institut

The Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program provides year-round support to nonfiction contemporary-issue  filmmakers internationally. The program encourages the exploration of innovative nonfiction storytelling, and promotes the exhibition of documentary films to a broader audience. It supports independent artists both domestically and internationally through the Sundance Documentary Fund, the Documentary Composers Laboratory and Edit and Story Laboratory, panels at the Filmmakers Lodge at the Sundance Film Festival and the Sundance Independent Producers Conference , and a variety of collaborative international documentary initiatives. Sundance Documentary Fund

The Sundance Documentary Fund is a key program of the Documentary Film Program, dedicated to supporting U.S. and international documentary films that focus on current human rights issues, freedom of expression, social justice, civil liberties, and exploring critical issues of our time. The Documentary Fund was established at Sundance Institute in 2002 with a gift from the Open Society Institute and is supported by a leadership grant from the Ford Foundation.

Documentary Fund grants are announced 2-3 times a year and between 2002-2006, the Fund has disbursed almost $5.2 million to over 175 projects in 52 countries. In supporting such work, the Sundance Documentary Fund
encourages the diverse exchange of ideas crucial to developing an open society, raising public consciousness about human rights abuses and restrictions of civil liberties, and fostering an ongoing dialogue about these issues.

SDF Grant Categories
The Documentary Fund now considers projects in four categories-Development, Production and Post-Production, Engagement* and Impact.*

Development grants provide seed funds to filmmakers whose projects are in the early research or pre-production stage.

Grant award is up to $20,000. A previous directing sample is required. (If no directing sample is available, a creative visual work indicating the director’s artistic point of view and storytelling ability is required).

Production and Post-Production grants provide funds to filmmakers in various stages of the production and post-production stages. Applications should include at least 20 continuously edited material. Longer cuts and
fine cuts can be submitted if available. If you are early in production and have a trailer or selected scenes that are

shorter in length than 20 minutes, please contact DFP staff to determine whether your material is sufficient to submit a formal application.

*Engagement grants are awarded to innovative distribution and audience engagement strategies. Available to previous grantees only.

*Impact grants support on-going work on the issues by the filmmakers. By invitation only.

Call for Abstracts on the Politics of Digital Media in the Balkans and the Middle East

We invite abstract submissions for an edited book on the creation,
dissemination, interpretation, and role of digital media for political
purposes in the Balkans and the Middle East. The Balkan and Middle East
contexts provide interesting case studies because of their overlapping
patterns of national and regional identification combined with the tensions
these create.
The overall goal of the edited volume will be to consider the relationship
between a wide array of internet uses and forms of political deliberation,
taking into consideration both the ways in which interactive media help to
foster deliberation, discussion, and the coordination of collection action,
and the ways in which they may thwart public sphere ideals of rational
critical deliberation and public accountability. Our intent is to provide an
overview of the spectrum of political uses of new media in these two
regions.
Contributors may come from a range of disciplinary and methodological
perspectives, attending to how political groups, practices, and
communicative genres are underwritten and sustained via engagement with
digital technology, as well as to how the political realm itself is
transformed in the age of digital media.
Relevant topics include but are not limited to the following:
-         The political uses of digital media
-         The uses of digital media for purposes of organizing protest and
dissent and for the construction of forums for political deliberation.
-         How activists and (political) groups have used the internet to
hold state authorities accountable or challenge them, or to publish and
circulate information.
-         The creation, dissemination and/or interpretation of digital media
content by communities and individuals for political purposes
-         The kinds of politics that are created/expressed in the digital
media environment
-         How mediated expressions and spaces connect to politics ‘on the

We invite abstract submissions for an edited book on the creation, dissemination, interpretation, and role of digital media for political purposes in the Balkans and the Middle East. The Balkan and Middle East contexts provide interesting case studies because of their overlapping patterns of national and regional identification combined with the tensions these create.

The overall goal of the edited volume will be to consider the relationship between a wide array of internet uses and forms of political deliberation, taking into consideration both the ways in which interactive media help to foster deliberation, discussion, and the coordination of collection action, and the ways in which they may thwart public sphere ideals of rational critical deliberation and public accountability. Our intent is to provide an overview of the spectrum of political uses of new media in these two regions.

Contributors may come from a range of disciplinary and methodological perspectives, attending to how political groups, practices, and communicative genres are underwritten and sustained via engagement with digital technology, as well as to how the political realm itself is transformed in the age of digital media.

Relevant topics include but are not limited to the following:

-  The political uses of digital media

-  The uses of digital media for purposes of organizing protest and dissent and for the construction of forums for political deliberation.

-  How activists and (political) groups have used the internet to hold state authorities accountable or challenge them, or to publish and circulate information.

-  The creation, dissemination and/or interpretation of digital media content by communities and individuals for political purposes

-  The kinds of politics that are created/expressed in the digital media environment

- How mediated expressions and spaces connect to politics ‘on the ground’

- The kinds of political challenges that arise from digital media use in the regions

- The shifting relationship between digital media and journalism

- How  population groups use the internet to connect with one another across national divisions (for example Serbs living in Bosnia, Serbia, and Montenegro; Palestinians living in Israel, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria).

- Chapters may focus on different forms of digital media and spaces: internet cafes, social networking sites, bulletin boards, blogs, twitter, wikipedia, youTube, listservs, websites and other digital/social media.

- Chapters may focus on one national context or sub-context, or may be comparative in scope.

Being in Europe: Crisis? What Crisis?

The Heinrich-Boell-Foundation Brandenburg
in collaboration with
SPACE project | residency lab |  store
kindly invites you to the conference
Being in Europe: Crisis? What Crisis?
Conference 28th – 29th January 2010
take place at SPACE
Velehradska 7/A, Bratislava, Slovak Republic
http://www.atlantisprojects.eu/
speakers: Marek Adamov, Prof. Joachim Becker, Prof. Ulrich Brand, Martin
Bútora, Isolde Charim, Prof. Oliver Marchart, Ruth Noack, Jakob Racek.
The conference “Being in Europe: Crisis? What Crisis?” opens up new vistas
on Europe 20 years after the fall of the Iron Curtain. Under the
designation “Crisis? What crisis?” we bring into focus various
perspectives on European changes in the last 20 years and the current
crises. The title – taken from a cover of Supertramp´s LP from 1975 – can
ironically be interpreted in diverse ways. For example as a synonym for a
non-existing crisis or an attempt to disavow the existence of crises. It
also describes the crucial questions for this conference: Are we really
having a crisis? Are we even confronted with different crises? Or do we
deny their existence and profoundness? What can we do to solve possible
crises? 20 years have passed since the Velvet Revolution. Since then a
globalized economy within a free society of politically responsible
citizens seems to have grown. In these years societies in Europe came into
transformation, new democratic systems have emerged and social reforms
have passed. The European Union has fundamentally changed. At the same
time it faces several crises. Some of them seem to be obvious. First of
all a deep economic crisis. And also the crisis of climate change and
energy resources which affect not only Europe but the whole world. But
what about European culture and art? What about the crisis of the art
market and the lack of support of culture and art in the new member states
of the European Union? And do we also have a crisis of the democratic
system? Sure enough democratic governmental institutions do not work
efficiently in many member states of the European Union. The current
constitution of democratic systems in European countries is confronted
with a loss of political impetus. Public discussions of political issues
seem to get less important. Most decisions are taken by only a few opinion
leaders in national or supranational parliaments and governments. The
level of participation of the citizens is low, their involvement in the
process of decision-making weak. Nevertheless, political decisions taken
today in times of crises will be eminently important for the future shape
of our political, economical, cultural and ecological system. What Europe
decides these days touches its being and the every day live of millions of
people. Again: Crisis? What Crisis?
