Kaki King si lectia de chitara

Daca zilele trecute Alternativ se afla in clasamentul Trafic.ro undeva pe langa artista de “folclor” Carmen Serban, pozitionarea in aceasta saptamana langa un site specializat in tabulaturi de chitara m-a facut sa caut in memorie dupa sunete de coarda “placubile”.

Kaki King a pornit in cultivarea gusturilor muzicale cu Beatles si Fleetwood Mac. A furat ceva inspiratie de la Preston Reed si Michael Hedges, iar din 2001 si-a luat in serios pasiunea pentru chitara si nu de putine ori a cantat si a improvizat in diferite spatii publice. In 2002 a inregistrat un demo.. iar in 2008 a lansat cel de-al 4 lea album “Dreaming of Revenge”.

GRAD – European centre for culture and debate

25012010_bojana_1 GRAD, the European center for culture and debate has emerged on the initiative of the Cultural Front Belgrade and Felix Meritis Foundation in Amsterdam. Thanks to support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands through the MATRA program and Belgrade community Savski Venac for the first time with us one of the industrial facility becomes a cultural place.

The old warehouse was built in 1884. Re-designed multifunctional space with possibilities to organize programs such as exhibitions, concerts, debates, performances, conferences and workshops. The idea was that it was possible to keep the atmosphere of the old warehouse on the bank of the river Sava by introducing one new place which is necessary for the functioning of one cultural center in Belgrade.

As new cultural center in Belgrade, we would like to work on the constant promotion of design in the local environment in order to have a chance to become one of the leading art scenes in the region. Our international art council has chosen 12 projects that will be presented in following year. Members of Council are successful artists: Imelda Ramovic (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Davor Bruketa (Croatia), Nebojsa Cvetkovic (Serbia), Igor Orsolic (Serbia), Richard Lindkvist (Sweden), Martin Kolar (Slovakia) and Ljudmila Stratimirovis (Serbia). Center has two gallery spaces, sizes:150 square meters and 30 square meters.

Exhibition season begins in February with two exhibitions.

The first exhibition will present artist Bojana Rajicic who graduated from the Artistic Philological Faculty in Kragujevac in 2008. The idea of her project is based on the design and rationalization of the unique place that has a function for the revival of illustration, where illustrations have their own “life” in the world of ideas. The exhibition opens on 5th of February and will last until 11th of February.

Second exhibition will be by the designer duo “Od Do arhitekti”. The founders of this architecture – design studio are Natalija Ilincic and Jugoslava Kljakic. In their work they are dealing with architecture, furniture design, interior design and light design. Their innovative approach and a fun design solutions meet the needs of modern life. Exhibition opens on 17th of February and will last until 24th of February.

During the 2009, Cultural Front organized a public competition on which interested artists had the opportunity to submit their project proposals. Seventy-six candidates applied. After a comprehensive evaluation, the council choose twelve projects. These artists, who’s work focus primarily on applied art and design, will have the opportunity to present their projects to wider Belgrade audience.

Using positive experiences and following good examples, we think it is possible to raise the quality of the local design art scene.

Welcome to GRAD!

Peter Osborne from “Radical Philosophy” at Pavilion Unicredit in Bucharest

Lectura la Pavilion Peter Osborne “The fiction of the contemporary: Speculative collectivity and the global transnational”.

“Art practices today are subject to time primarily in the form of a demand for contemporaneity.
There is, I believe, something exemplary about The Atlas Group’s works combination of contemporaneity and fiction with regard to the construction of a critical category of contemporary art. The Atlas Group Project is exemplary as an artistic construction and expression – a construction and thereby an expression – of the fiction of the contemporary itself. More particularly, it will be argued, the art of The Atlas Group is most productively understood as a construction/expression of the fiction of the contemporary in the specific form of the speculative collectivity of the globally transnational. This claim has five main conceptual components:
1. the contemporary as idea, problem and fiction
2. the globally transnational character of the contemporary today
3. art as construction/expression of the contemporary
4. the fictionalization of artistic authority
5. the collectivization of artistic fictions.
What follows outlines these theoretical coordinates before returning to The Atlas Group project. As such, it aspires to something like the status of a case study in critical canon formation in contemporary art.”

(excerpt from “The Fiction of Contemporary: Speculative Collectivity and the Global Transnational”, Peter Osborne, 2010)

Peter Osborne is Professor of Modern European Philosophy and Director of the Centre for Research in Modern European Philosophy, Middlesex University, London and an editor of the journal Radical Philosophy. His books include The Politics of Time: Modernity and Avant-Garde (Verso, 1995), Philosophy in Cultural Theory (Routledge, 2000), Conceptual Art (Phaidon, 2002), Marx (Granta, 2005) and (ed.) Walter Benjamin: Critical Evaluations in Cultural Theory (3 Volumes, Routledge, 2005). His writing on contemporary art includes contributions to Afterall, Art History, October, Oxford Art Journal, and catalogues for Manifesta 5 (San Sebastian, 2004), Time Zones (Tate Modern, 2004), Zones of Contact (2006 Biennale of Sydney), The Quick and the Dead (Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, 2009) and Matias Faldbakken: The Shock of Abstraction (National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design, Oslo/Ikon, Birmingham 2009). A Spanish edition of his recent essays, El arte más allá de la estetica: Ensayos filosoficos sobre el arte contemporaneo, is forthcoming from CENDEAC, Murcia, January 2010.

Aceasta afirmatie are cinci mari componente conceptuale:
1. Contemporaneitatea ca idee, problema si fictiune.
2. Caracterul global transantional al artei contemporane.
3. Arta ca o constructie/expresie a contemporanului.
4. Fictionalizarea autoritatii artistice.
5. Colectivizarea fictiunilor artistice.
Ceea ce urmeaza subliniaza aceste coordonate teoretice inainte de a ne intoarce la proiectul Atlas Group. In consecinta, aspira la statutul unui studiu de caz in formarea critica de canoane in arta contemporana.”

(extras din “Fictiunea contemporaneitatii: Colectivitatea speculativa si transnationalul global”, Peter Osborne, 2010)

Aceasta prelegere este o premiera, editorul “Radical Philosophy” fiind pentru prima data in Romania.
